What Are Claude Plugins?
Plugins turn Claude into a domain specialist. Each plugin bundles four building blocks:
- Skills – Instructions that teach Claude how to approach specialized tasks in a structured way.
- Data Connectors – Connections to external data sources such as FactSet, S&P Global or Bloomberg.
- Slash Commands – Shortcuts like /dcf or /comps that launch common workflows with a single command.
- Governance Rules – Guardrails that ensure Claude adheres to regulatory and internal policies.
The plugins can be installed directly in Claude Cowork – the working mode inside the Claude desktop app. Cowork and plugins are available on all paid Claude plans (Pro from $20/month, Max, Team and Enterprise). You can find an overview of all finance plugins at claude.com/plugins/finance.
How to Install the Plugins
Installation in 4 Steps
- Open Cowork mode in Claude Desktop.
- Click “Customize” on the left → open “Browse plugins”.
- Search the plugin catalog for “Financial Analysis” and click “Install”.
- Then install the remaining finance plugins (Investment Banking, Equity Research, etc.).
Important: The Financial Analysis plugin must be installed first – it contains the configuration for all data providers that the other plugins depend on.
You can also find all finance plugins at claude.com/plugins/finance.

Data Connectors
The plugins can pull market data, fundamentals, analyst estimates and research directly from twelve institutional providers. This means Claude works with current information from your existing data subscriptions rather than outdated training data.
12 Supported Data Providers
- • FactSet – Market data, fundamentals, analyst estimates, research
- • S&P Global / Capital IQ Pro – Tear sheets, M&A data, transcripts
- • LSEG – Fixed income, FX, yield curves, real-time news
- • MSCI – Index data, performance, ESG ratings
- • PitchBook – Private market data, VC and PE transactions
- • Morningstar, Moody’s, MT Newswires, Aiera, Daloopa, Chronograph, Egnyte
Separate Subscriptions Required
All data connectors require a separate subscription or API key with the respective data provider. The plugins themselves are free – access to the data sources is not.
Cross-App Workflows (Preview)
Claude can maintain context across applications: retrieve data, analyze it in Excel and transfer the results directly into a PowerPoint presentation – all in a single session, without copy-and-paste. This feature is currently in an early preview phase.
In addition, there are connectors for Google Workspace (Calendar, Drive, Gmail), Slack and DocuSign.
What You Should Keep in Mind
Important Considerations Before Getting Started
- ⚠ Paid subscription required: Cowork and plugins are available on Claude Pro ($20/month), Max, Team and Enterprise. Features such as private plugin marketplaces and centralized management are exclusive to Enterprise.
- ⚠ Not a standalone basis for decisions: AI-generated financial analyses must always be reviewed by qualified professionals.
- ⚠ Data costs: The connectors require separate subscriptions with the respective data providers.
Conclusion
The five finance plugins turn Claude into a domain specialist for finance teams. Whether it is a comparable company analysis, an IC memo or a client review – a single slash command kicks off workflows that would otherwise take hours.
Start with the Financial Analysis plugin as your foundation and then add the role-specific plugins your team needs. You can find the full announcement on the Anthropic blog.
